Pisciotta’ s beaches

Marina di Pisciotta’s beaches are all admission free.

Before reaching the promenade, there is a place called "Passariello Alto" with a staircase that goes down to a small sandy and pebbly beach. This is a very sheltered shore with crystal clear waters and for visitors who prefer quiet and tranquil holidays. Divers know this place very well because you can observe octopus, crabs as well as admire the fascinating sea flora. Turning to the right, you can walk to the promenade, but this walk is not too easy. Turning to the left facing Palinuro, you will reach the beach of the well known holiday resort "Lido Paradiso".

Before reaching the promenade, immediately left turn, there is a short walk down to the small beach of "Passariello Basso" behind rocks. Once there was a romantic platform, but was then substituted by the rocks in order to divert the stream and to protect the buildings near the shore.

Along the promenade, before the harbour, you will find the beach shown on the postcards of Pisciotta. This is a sandy beach and so is the sea ground and is sheltered by several rocks. Beyond them is the open sea. Walking down the promenade, right hand there are most of the shops, bars and restaurants of the Marina. While observing the children or your beach umbrella have a coffee or a Martini. There are no public showers, but some fountains where you can wash your feet and refresh yourself.

Walking on, beyond the harbour, you arrive at "Gozzipuodi". This was the beach where once all fishing boats were berthed. Now it is a very busy, beautiful beach, together with the "Acquabianca" beach. There are the "agliaredde", round, smooth pebbles, but also sand and gravel. The sea ground is shallow and sandy. There are T-shaped rocks, ideal for divers. Across the street lies one of the most known bars of the Marina, now with a new shopkeeper.

Right at the end of the Marina is the last beach called "Acquabianca" just the extension of the "Gozzipuodi" beach with the same features. The large, flat rocks are perfect to get sun-tanned and along the shore there are pebbles, but the sea ground stays sandy with some hidden or emerging reefs. At the end of the Marina beaches is the reef of "mezza galera" , and beyond you see the cape of Ascea. Hidden in the rocks, very cold spring water comes down from the mountains and mixing with the warm sea water will surely thrill you. Walking around the point which is topped by the ruins of an antique Saracen tower you can go to the holiday resort "Le Marée" with its gravel beach and which was one of the first resorts here. This walk needs a little exercise, but you can interrupt it and have a swim. In Caprioli, beautiful hamlet belonging to the town of Pisciotta, you can walk under old olive trees and then cross over to the sandy beach and the dunes of Palinuro. There is a splendid view across the open sea. Some beaches are free of admission, you pay admission for the equipped ones which offer you all the comfort you desire for you beach holiday.
